About the Role

\n

Forth Valley College's Apprenticeships, Skills and Commercial Department is seeking an enthusiastic Work-Based Assessor to join our Health and Social Care team.

\n

This is a rewarding opportunity to support candidates throughout their professional development journey, helping them achieve nationally recognised Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) while building the skills, confidence and knowledge required to progress their careers within the Health and Social Care sector.

\n

As a Work-Based Assessor, you will work closely with candidates in their workplace environments, providing guidance, encouragement and assessment support as they undertake their SVQs. You will play a key role in recognising and developing talent within the sector, celebrating candidate achievements and contributing to the development of a skilled and competent workforce that makes a real difference to the lives of others.

\n

The successful candidate will bring current industry experience, a strong understanding of Health and Social Care practice, and a genuine passion for supporting people to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

\n

Assess candidates undertaking Health and Social Care SVQs in workplace settings.

\n

Support candidates to gather, present and submit evidence that meets qualification requirements.

\n

Conduct fair, valid and reliable assessments in line with awarding body and quality assurance requirements.

\n

Maintain accurate learner records and assessment documentation using relevant IT systems.

\n

Manage an allocated caseload effectively, meeting agreed targets and deadlines.

\n

Motivate and support candidates throughout their qualification journey.

\n

Contribute to quality improvement activities and work collaboratively within the assessment team.

\n

Develop and maintain positive relationships with employers and external partners.

\n

Essential Requirements

\n

Relevant and current occupational experience within the Health and Social Care sector.

\n

Strong knowledge and understanding of Health and Social Care practice.

\n

Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.

\n

Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

\n

Commitment to supporting learner achievement and workforce development.

\n

Desirable Requirements

\n

Internal Verifier qualification or willingness to work towards achieving these.

\n

Previous experience of assessing/internally verifying vocational qualifications.

\n
