Payroll Clerk

Job Description

On behalf of our client, a well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice, we are looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Clerk to join their friendly and professional team.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with a minimum of three years' payroll experience who is looking to join a supportive practice where they can develop their career while managing a varied portfolio of client payrolls.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs Payroll Clerk, you will be responsible for delivering an accurate and efficient payroll service for a portfolio of clients, ensuring payrolls are processed correctly and on time while providing an excellent level of customer service.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients.\n\n * Processing starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, bonuses and statutory payments.\n\n * Calculating and processing SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP and other statutory payments.\n\n * Submitting Real Time Information (RTI) returns to HMRC.\n\n * Managing Auto Enrolment pension duties and pension submissions.\n\n * Producing payslips, payroll reports and year-end documentation.\n\n * Responding to payroll queries from clients in a professional and timely manner.\n\n * Ensuring payrolls are completed accurately and within strict deadlines.\n\n * Maintaining payroll records in accordance with GDPR and current legislation.\n\n * Keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation and HMRC guidance.\n\nAbout You\n\nThe successful candidate will have:\n\n * A minimum of three years' payroll experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau.\n\n * A sound understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC processes.\n\n * Experience using payroll software such as BrightPay, Sage Payroll, IRIS or Moneysoft.\n\n * Knowledge of RTI submissions and Auto Enrolment pensions.\n\n * Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills.\n\n * The ability to manage multiple client payrolls and prioritise workload effectively.\n\n * Excellent communication and customer service skills.\n\n * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.\n\nDesirable\n\n * CIPP qualification or working towards one.\n\n * Experience with CIS payrolls and director payrolls.\n\n * Knowledge of pension administration.\n\nWhat's on Offer?\n\n * Competitive salary, dependent on experience.\n\n * Company pension.\n\n * Generous holiday entitlement.\n\n * Ongoing training and professional development.\n\n * Career progression opportunities.\n\n * A friendly, supportive and collaborative working environment.\n\n * Flexible or hybrid working arrangements, where applicable.\n\nIf you're an experienced Payroll Clerk looking to join a respected accountancy practice where your skills will be recognised and your career can continue to grow, we'd love to hear from you.
